Limitations

As said in the introduction of this manual. AriNET is subject to limitations. We will discuss five of them.²³

• Implicit equation: An equation like $x=cos(x)$ has a unique solution (x=0.738085), however AriNET is not able to solve it. As seen in the past section, evaluating such an equation creates a ``cos box''. Such a ``box'' needs at least one known element in order to be created. It is not the case here as x and cos(x) are both unknown.

• Simple equation: Evaluating $x+x=2$ does not end with a solution! This because the created ``+ box'' can not have twice the same input. It is possible, however, to solve this equation using AriNET, simply transform it to: $2*x=2$.

• System of equations: Such a system $a+3*b=9 ; a+9b=14$ has no solution for AriNET, although we see a trivial solution: $a=3$ and $b=2$. This is again because it is impossible to extract a numerical value for either a nor b, when taking these equation separately.

• Equations with solutions in the complex numbers set: This version of AriNET is able to work only with real numbers.²⁴

• Quadratic equations: Equations of the type: $x²=1$ have two solutions (i.e, here, $x_1=1 ; x_2=-1$) however AriNET rejects the negative solution and returns only the positive value.
